What We Offer
Clear reasons to work with us — and none that aren't worth mentioning.
We'd rather give you an honest picture of what working with Escapement looks like than make claims that don't hold up in practice.

Core advantages of working with Escapement
Named accountability
The person who handles your watch is known to you by name. There are no anonymous technicians.
Written records
A documented service history accompanies every finished piece — useful now and for any future owner.
No work without consent
Parts replacements, case work, and any unexpected findings are discussed before they become charges.
Timing machine results
Every service ends with a multi-position timing machine reading included in the paperwork.
Originality preserved
We do not repolish surfaces or replace parts that are still functional without explicit owner approval.
Accessible location
A dedicated workshop in central Khon Kaen, with appointments available for in-person consultation.
Professional Expertise
Over a decade working on mechanical movements
Watchmaking skill develops slowly and honestly. It comes from handling a large range of movements — simple three-hand automatics, column-wheel chronographs, older lever-set pocket watches, dress pieces with thin calibres — and encountering the problems that each type presents. Fourteen years of that work forms the foundation for everything we do at Escapement.
We're most experienced with Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements, and we work across a range of service complexity from basic adjustment to full disassembly and restoration. If a piece falls outside our scope, we say so at assessment rather than taking on work we can't carry out well.

Condition Photography
Intake and post-service photography creates a permanent visual record of the watch's condition at each stage.
Tools & Methods
Equipment matched to the work
The right result depends on having the right tools for the job. We use dedicated watchmaking equipment — not improvised solutions — and keep our workspace and instruments maintained to a level that the work requires.
This isn't something we emphasise because it's unusual. It's a baseline. But it matters to say clearly that assessments at Escapement are based on measurable data, not guesswork.
Communication
You're part of the process, not waiting on the sidelines
Good watchmaking communication means telling the owner what's happening, when it's happening, and what the options are at each decision point. It also means being direct when the news is that a piece doesn't need work, or when a proposed service isn't worth the cost at this stage.
We contact owners before any unplanned work begins, provide a written assessment after intake, and follow up with documentation when the watch is ready for collection.

How pricing works at Escapement
The prices listed for each service are starting points. They reflect the scope of the service as described — the cleaning, lubrication, regulation, and documentation that the work normally involves.
If a movement requires parts — mainspring, gaskets, crown and stem, worn jewels — those are identified at assessment and quoted separately. Nothing is ordered without agreement.
We also tell you if a service isn't worthwhile. If the cost of servicing a particular watch exceeds its reasonable value, or if the work required isn't within our scope, we say so at intake rather than proceeding regardless.
Pricing & Value
No hidden steps in the invoice
A service price that means something is one that stays close to what was quoted. Our aim is that when you collect your watch, the total reflects what you expected when you left it.
Transparent pricing isn't just about individual transactions. It's about whether you'd feel comfortable recommending us, and whether you'd bring the watch back in five years' time. That longer view shapes how we approach every quote.

What We Do Differently
Things you won't find everywhere
Pre-service assessment at no charge
We examine the watch and give an initial report before you commit to any service. If the work isn't worthwhile at this stage, we'll say so and you leave with your watch and no invoice.
Service records that travel with the watch
The written record we produce is yours to keep alongside the watch. It documents what was done, what condition the movement was in, and what to watch for. It forms part of the watch's history.
We work to what the watch actually needs
The scope of each service is determined by the watch's condition, not by a fixed menu. An Accuracy Check won't become a full overhaul unless there's a reason for it, and that reason will be explained.
Inherited and sentimental pieces handled with care
Many of the pieces we see carry personal history. We understand that the watch's monetary value and its importance to its owner are different things, and we treat both with respect.
