What Owners Say
The experiences that matter most are those of the people who brought their watches in.
Below are accounts from owners whose watches came to Escapement for assessment and service. Each one is described honestly.

I brought in a Seiko 5 that had been running about a minute slow per day. Pattarawut checked it on the timing machine and showed me the readings before and after adjustment. Very clear process. The watch now runs within a few seconds a day. Good communication throughout.

My grandfather's dress watch had been sitting unworn for years. I was nervous about bringing it in — it has a lot of sentimental value. The assessment was thorough and I was kept informed at each stage. The restoration record that came back with the watch was incredibly detailed. Worth every baht.

Chronograph on my Tissot PR516 stopped returning the minute hand properly. I'd been to two other places who wanted to replace things without really explaining why. Escapement found a worn part in the reset mechanism, quoted it, and fixed only that. Much appreciated.

Udon Thani · May 2025
Sent my watch from Udon Thani after contacting them first as they recommended. The packaging advice was useful and the piece arrived safely. Service was done in about six weeks — the timeframe they'd indicated — and the paperwork on return was very complete. I'll use them again.

Came in not knowing if my watch needed an adjustment or a full service. The initial assessment was honest — they told me what was actually necessary and what could wait. I didn't feel pushed into spending more than was needed. Refreshing, frankly.

Had a vintage pocket watch — a Longines from the 1950s — that hadn't run in fifteen years. I was told it would need new parts and a lengthy service. All of that was explained clearly and a quote was given before anything started. The watch runs well now and I have a written record of everything done to it.

In Detail
Case studies — three watches, three outcomes
Case Study 01
A 1970s Omega Constellation — running 2 minutes slow
The Situation
An owner brought in a family Omega that had belonged to their father. The watch ran but lost approximately two minutes per day. It hadn't been serviced in at least twelve years.
The Work
Timing machine assessment revealed poor amplitude and an irregular beat error — consistent with dried lubrication. A full Chronograph Cleaning & Service was recommended and agreed. The mainspring and one worn jewel cap were also replaced after consultation.
The Outcome
The watch now runs to +6 seconds per day in the dial-up position. The owner has a complete service record. They noted the watch would likely need attention again in five to seven years.
Case Study 02
Zenith El Primero — stuck chronograph reset
The Situation
A Zenith El Primero arrived with a stuck reset pusher. The chronograph would start and stop but would not reset properly — the minute counter stayed at its last position. The owner had tried forcing the pusher.
The Work
Disassembly showed a bent reset hammer — likely from the forced pusher operation. The hammer was carefully straightened and the column wheel interaction adjusted. Full movement clean and lubrication carried out at the same time.
The Outcome
All chronograph functions restored. Rate regulated to within manufacturer specification. The owner was advised against forcing pushers in future and given an explanation of how the reset mechanism works.
Case Study 03
1940s Swiss dress watch — inherited, non-running
The Situation
A slender dress watch with no known service history, last worn by the owner's grandmother. The movement had seized completely. The case showed signs of previous amateur opening attempts.
The Work
Museum-grade restoration service undertaken. The seized mainspring was carefully removed without damaging the barrel. Two pivot jewels required replacement. No polishing was applied to the case. All decisions were discussed with the owner before proceeding.
The Outcome
The watch runs reliably. Original patina and case finish preserved. A twelve-page written record of the restoration accompanies the watch, including detailed photographs of the movement at each stage.
